i have been terribly sick in the last couple of weeks with a killer cold. sorry about the non-blogging since i am still recovering. the weather here in daly city has been wet, cold, and foggy. we had at least 2 or 3 days sunny weather. and rain, i love rain. *sarcasm* i've had a lot of drama in last few weeks.

i talk about paper goodies a whole lot, so it's about time i share a little of my own. i scanned this piece of japanese gift wrap and tweaked it in photoshop. i got a batch of it from kyun san jose when it was open years ago. sadly enough that store and related are long gone.

so here you go! feel free to print it out for gift wrap and anything to use on paper. enjoy!

this blog rocks!

stickers and donuts.

speaking of blogs!

my to-do list (i.e. adding more content for your enjoyment):

1)re-do knitting needle sizing chart to include crochet needles.
2)update tanpopo craft's library with new titles including isbn.
3)add new content, such as downloadables.
4)merge my food blog with this one, cuz maintaining more than one is uh...HARD.

Hello all!

Summer's all over and now school's a buzzin'. I've gotten some new glasses and contacts, because my vision has been wonky lately. It was just like someone took my old glasses and smeared petroleum jelly all over. Yes, my eyes were bad.

Talking about contacts, have you seen these? They're called circle lens.

have you wondered what happened to the kusudama i was working on? it was very pretty when i started.
this is not a very good photo, since the kusudama was roughly handled by a two and three year old. LOL.
this is what it looked like before (not so good) it met its untimely demise.:

my kiddies found it and mashed it. it is now dead.

kusudama!
i made this today, using post-it notes! woohoo! using the instructions here:
the peace of paper - origami flowers-kusudama flowers link via curbly.com. the flower is a little shabby since it is my first. it wasn't behaving as i was glueing it together and kept popping open. my main mistake was using a gluestick which wasn't holding properly. you are supposed to using paper glue, like Elmer's or something.

then, i remembered i had liquid clear glue, but the applicator was broken and had a tendency to leak. i had to pour some out on a little jar lid and use a toothpick to apply the glue. this time it worked to stay.
i'm going to attempt an entire kusudama ball.

Childhood reminiscences

When you're young, you experience the world not only through memory but by sight and your other senses. You can remember the familiar scents of home: your mother cooking your favorite dinner, your father's aftershave, the scent of freshly laundered sheets, and other scents that bring you comfort. Taste is also a big thing when you are young. You remember the flavors of your childhood. And ice cream was the biggest wasn't it?

At my age, I remember Thrifty's ice cream (Rite-Aid now)and getting a double scoop of Double Chocolate Malted Crunch. The ice cream is still around in certain places and you are definitely lucky to have it available to you.

I found these through yumsugar.com. Well if you haven't read yumsugar then take a gander below.

Bring back memories doesn't it? :) The cylindrical shape of the scoop ready for stacking just like good ol' Thrifty's. Get the scoop here:Ice Cream Scoop & Stacks for $16.95 each from Cuisipro. Now just get the ice cream. For me, I prefer the Double Chocolate Malted Crunch.

Not-So-Instant Mac N' Cheese

A quick dish using shredded 4 Cheese Blend Mexican Cheese, unsalted butter, 1/2 lb of cooked farfalle (bowtie) pasta leftover from my pasta salad, and whole milk.

[picture]

1/2 package of farfalle, cooked and drained
1/4 c. (4 tbsp) of butter, unsalted
1 c. shredded 4 Cheese Blend Mexican Cheese
1/3 c. whole milk
a dash of pepper

In a saucepan, combine the milk and butter and cook over medium high heat until the milk is hot and butter is melted. Add the 1 c. of cheese and stir until cheese is melted and incorporated. The sauce will thicken when cooled. Take saucepan off of heat and pour into a bowl. Throw in the cooked and drained farfalle and toss in the cheese sauce. Add pepper and stir. :D
